My name is Dr. Michelle Dean, and I serve as Faculty Advisor to the SHRM chapter at SDSU. I joined the student SHRM chapter at LSU as an undergraduate and it was pivotal for me in piquing my interest in HR and helping me to see the many paths a career in HR can take. I am happy to help students have that same “ah ha” moment that happened for me when I joined SHRM as a student. I am proud to advise a nationally recognized SHRM chapter which has received the top merit designation given to SHRM chapters, the Outstanding Chapter Award, in 2014, 2015, and 2017 and the SHRM Superior Merit Award in 2016. Our chapter has been recognized by SDSU receiving the Outstanding Organization Award from Associated Students, SDSU Dean of Students, and the Fowler College of Business, respectively, in recognition of our chapter’s commitment to excellence in student professional development.
We are open to all majors, and I hope you’ll check out our website, come to weekly meetings and events, and talk to our officers and members about SHRM. Hope to see you at an upcoming meeting! |

I joined SHRM in the Spring of 2023 to further build my connections within the world of HR and have gained so much more from the organization than that. I have had the opportunity to build friendships with other students and receive advice from HR professionals that has helped me shape my career path. This chapter has been a catalyst for my HR journey and I can't wait to see what's left to come! |

Year: Senior Hometown: Boston, MA Hey everyone! My name is Ronald Batista and I am so excited to serve as SHRM SDSU’s Fall 2024 Vice President. I joined SHRM in Fall 2023 and I have tremendously enjoyed my experience thus far. I initially joined SHRM searching for a possible internship, but SHRM has provided so much more than that. SHRM not only supports its members by guiding them through their professional journey but also provides a space for members to be mentored by leaders in the field of HR, network with HR professionals, and attend insightful speaker events. My biggest goal this semester is ensuring that all members feel welcome and appreciated by SHRM and to support our chapter in any way necessary. I look forward to working personally with each of you this semester and I'm excited for what this semester has to offer! |

Minor: Public Health and Counseling & Social Change Year: Senior Hometown: Chula Vista, CA I am a Senior at SDSU completing my BA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and two minors: Public Health, and Counseling & Social Change. Outside of the educational aspect, I am an older sister, 2nd generation Mexican, supporter of small businesses, and a creative. I also currently work as a Behavior Technician with Behavior Frontiers. Hobbies include reading books, making art, staying connected to local communities/aids, and hiking. |
