My name is Dr. Michelle Dean, and I serve as Faculty Advisor to the SHRM chapter at SDSU. I joined the student SHRM chapter at LSU as an undergraduate and it was pivotal for me in piquing my interest in HR and helping me to see the many paths a career in HR can take. I am happy to help students have that same “ah ha” moment that happened for me when I joined SHRM as a student. I am proud to advise a nationally recognized SHRM chapter which has received the top merit designation given to SHRM chapters, the Outstanding Chapter Award, in 2014, 2015, and 2017 and the SHRM Superior Merit Award in 2016. Our chapter has been recognized by SDSU receiving the Outstanding Organization Award from Associated Students, SDSU Dean of Students, and the Fowler College of Business, respectively, in recognition of our chapter’s commitment to excellence in student professional development.
We are open to all majors, and I hope you’ll check out our website, come to weekly meetings and events, and talk to our officers and members about SHRM. Hope to see you at an upcoming meeting! |

I joined SHRM in Fall of 2020 because it was the perfect opportunity to learn more about the field and network with like-minded individuals. I have previously held the positions of Co-Marketing and Media Director, Events Coordinator, Secretary, and Vice President. SHRM has allowed me to gain so many connections and prepare me for my future career. I was able to gain mentors, an internship, and valuable skills such as event planning, organization, and teamwork. This organization means so much to me and has helped me grow professionally and personally and I am so grateful for all the friends that I have made. Entering my sixth semester with SHRM, I am super excited to be the President and would love to make sure everyone continues to have an amazing experience with SHRM as I did. |

I enjoyed meeting people with similar career interests as me and attending professional events to grow my network and knowledge. I served as SHRM’s Technology Director for Fall 2022, where I maintained and updated the organization’s website. SHRM has given me so many opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Year: Sophomore Hometown: San Jose, CA Hi everyone! I'm Bri and I'm excited to be SHRM SDSU's Treasurer for this upcoming spring semester. I joined SHRM because I wanted to be surrounded around like-minded people in developing our professional careers. There are so many opportunities in SHRM, allowing people with all different kinds of majors to be involved in the club. Outside of SHRM, I'm a research assistant for a psychology lab at school and work as an intern for a company in San Diego. When I'm not busy with school, you can find me listening to music, baking, or attending concerts in the area. I'm excited for what SHRM SDSU has to offer this spring :) |

My name is Kennedy Peppers, I am a first generation college student in my third year studying Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources. I get the honor to serve as one of the Co-Marketing and Media Directors for this spring 2023 semester. I joined SHRM to be more involved with business organizations on campus as I start focusing more on my career readiness. After only being in SHRM for one semester, it has already opened the door to several networking opportunities, a wonderful mentor, and different business experiences that I wouldn’t have been able to experience if it wasn’t for SHRM. I am really excited to bring my creative ability to produce quality content while learning more about Human Resources and transitioning into the workforce. |

Year: Senior Hometown: San Diego, CA Hello! My name is Jorge Gonzalez and I am from San Diego, CA. I am a senior majoring in I/O Psychology going into my last semester! This is my first semester as an officer, although I've been a member for the past two semesters and have really enjoyed my time in SHRM. I joined SHRM because I wanted to learn more about the field of HR and wanted to meet other like minded individuals who are also eager to expand their knowledge and skillset in HR. I've learned a lot so far from this organization, from the speakers they bring and the different events they hold. I have nothing but good things to say about this organization, everyone is very warm and welcoming and everyone wants to see each other succeed. When I'm not focused on school, I enjoy hiking, watching/playing soccer, playing pool, playing with my dog and trying new restaurants. I'm very excited to see what SHRM SDSU has to offer this semester! |

Minor: Management Year: Senior Hometown: San Diego, CA Hi guys, I'm Troy, a Co-Marketing & Media Director this semester. I joined SHRM last semester and wanted to get involved as an officer, so I chose this role hoping my marketing experience and creativity can serve you all. I'm thrilled for the opportunity to meet and network with other people in HR, my interest in which was spurred by Dr. Dean and her shameless plugs that I'm now very grateful for. As someone with a background not in HR but in IB, I hope to continue fostering SHRM's inclusiveness that made me feel welcome here from day one, and allow introverts like me to thrive. Outside of school, I am a prolific artist: I love creative writing, drawing, poetry and fiction. |

I've found just that here and more: fellow students on a similar path of self-discovery working as a team. My favorite event so far has been our Speed Networking session last semester, where I got to know everyone better. Other than the management program I am in here at SDSU, my interests include fashion, media analysis, weightlifting, and hiking. |

Year: Senior Hometown: San Diego, CA Hi, I’m Calista and I am the technology director for the Spring 2023 semester. I have been with SHRM SDSU for 2 years now and gained so much from this experience. SHRM SDSU really helped me learn and dive deep into the HR field while also connecting me to students who shared the same interest. This chapter has given me so many opportunities to grow as an individual, a leader, and a collaborator. This past summer I had the opportunity to attend the national SHRM conference in New Orleans, Louisiana where I got to engage with HR professionals and attend different speaker sessions. I learned so much from that experience and it continues to help structure my future career. |

Some fun facts about me are that I am from San Diego and I love watching T.V. shows or reading books in my free time. I've been in SHRM for 1 year now and I think that I gained so much from SHRM, including hearing from HR professionals about what they do, how meaningful and fulfilling their work is, as well as being able to constantly improve my resume and interviewing skills. Currently, I work as an HR assistant at SDSU and I've learned a lot about the importance of HR and how it operates in the workplace as well as how essential the HR department is to each business. My name is Brandon Bartosh and I am a third-year Business Management student with an emphasis in Human Resources, also minoring in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I moved to San Diego three years ago from Sacramento, and have been enjoying every second of this beautiful city ever since. I am currently engaged in SDSU's associated students as a member on the Board of Directors, I am a part of our acapella group here on campus, and of course I am a SHRM officer this semester working as Co-Officer for corporate relations. I take pride in immersing myself in any community I am in, working to uplift others in order to curate a positive, yet diligent environment. This is now my third semester being with SHRM and I am thankful for all of the countless opportunities and connections I have made thus far! |

I have known I wanted to be in the HR career space for years and quickly joined national SHRM, since then I have joined this club which really solidified my HR career decision. I have not only experienced great opportunities with HR professionals but also experienced a community of people/friends who have the same career interests as me. After going through the mentor program, that in included as a member, I have met my long-term career mentor who has and will guide me through my career. It has been a rewarding time in this organization being able to gain so much insight into HR and meet so many amazing people. My favorite experiences in this organization have been the speaker series events. I’ve learned so much from the speakers and find it motivating to see thriving professionals in the field. Outside of school, I enjoy exercising, bowling, and trying new foods. I am glad I get to make friends with people who are also studying or interested in HR, as well as increasing my network with HR professionals. I've had a great time in this organization and have been part of so many amazing experiences, like attending professional HR events and promoting our club on campus. My favorite memory would be attending the National SHRM Conference in New Orleans with the other officers. Outside of SHRM, I am an HR intern at Manpower San Diego, the Executive Vice President at Rotaract of SDSU, a part of the Hispanic Serving Institution Advisory Board, and a part of the Fowler Scholars program. I love hiking, weightlifting, boxing, backpacking, paddle-boarding, and soccer. |
