My name is Dr. Michelle Dean, and I serve as Faculty Advisor to the SHRM chapter at SDSU. I joined the student SHRM chapter at LSU as an undergraduate and it was pivotal for me in piquing my interest in HR and helping me to see the many paths a career in HR can take. I am happy to help students have that same “ah ha” moment that happened for me when I joined SHRM as a student. I am proud to advise a nationally recognized SHRM chapter which has received the top merit designation given to SHRM chapters, the Outstanding Chapter Award, in 2014, 2015, and 2017 and the SHRM Superior Merit Award in 2016. Our chapter has been recognized by SDSU receiving the Outstanding Organization Award from Associated Students, SDSU Dean of Students, and the Fowler College of Business, respectively, in recognition of our chapter’s commitment to excellence in student professional development.
We are open to all majors, and I hope you’ll check out our website, come to weekly meetings and events, and talk to our officers and members about SHRM. Hope to see you at an upcoming meeting! |

I joined SHRM last spring after kickoff and instantly fell in love with the organization. I was amazed by the variety of opportunities SHRM provided and had to jump in to help. Previously I held the role of Executive Secretary, which helped improve many essential skills. I am also currently on the exec team for Sanskriti, the Indian cultural org here at SDSU. Year: Senior Hometown: San Diego, CA Hi everyone! My name is Kalli and this is my third (and final) semester in SHRM SDSU! When I joined SHRM, I was unsure of what I wanted to do after college. I’ve since grown passionate about the field of HR and plan to start a career in recruitment and selection after graduation. SHRM helped me find an internship that later turned into a full-time role, while also building a professional network that can last a lifetime. I hope to help members take advantage of what our chapter has to offer so they too can further their careers! |

I am excited to be SHRM SDSU's Secretary for this upcoming spring semester. I joined SHRM because as a Human Resources major I wanted to learn more outside the classroom and be involved in a club where there are like-minded individuals who have similar goals. SHRM offers so many new experiences and opportunities and I am excited to continue being a part of this prestigious and fun club. I enjoyed signing up and getting mentored last semester and learning different perspectives of the business world. This organization has so many opportunities, and I look forward to further my experience as being an officer and further my knowledge in my aspiring future HR career. |

I joined on a whim after hearing a professor speak highly of the organization. I can confidently say that joining SHRM has been the best decision I have made in college, both professionally and socially. I initially joined SHRM in the Fall of 2022 to expand my knowledge of the HR field and get the opportunity to meet many inspiring HR professionals. Not only do you get to engage with other students with similar passions, but you can build a network that can follow you throughout your professional career. This chapter welcomes all majors and truly acts as a safe place for all who join! Minor: Leadership Development Year: Senior Hometown: Seattle, WA Hi everyone! My name is Catherine and this is my third semester being a part of SHRM SDSU. During my sophomore year, I learned about all of the different fields within Psychology and I immediately gravitated towards I/O. Ever since then, I have never looked back! Because of I/O's similarity to Human Resources, I wanted to learn more about HR in general and get involved in the field. This organization has provided me with countless opportunities to grow professionally through workshops, mentors, and meeting like-minded individuals who I now call close friends. I have felt so welcomed and appreciated by each and every member of this organization and I cannot wait to be a part of the leadership board. Outside of SHRM, I am involved in a few different organizations on campus. I am a member of Pi Beta Phi, the VP of Finance for Rho Lambda, and I am a research assistant for the Motivation and Social Identity Lab. Outside of school I really enjoy running, cooking, and spending time with friends! |

I joined SHRM in Fall 2023 and I have tremendously enjoyed my experience thus far. I initially joined SHRM searching for a possible internship, but SHRM has provided so much more than that. SHRM not only supports its members by guiding them through their professional journey but also provides a space for members to be mentored by leaders in the field of HR, network with HR professionals, and attend insightful speaker events. My biggest goal this semester is to effectively run the speed mentoring program, allowing SHRMies to network with HR professionals in the San Diego area. As a Business Administration Management Major with a focus on Entrepreneurship and a Minor in Real Estate at SDSU, my academic journey has been both challenging and rewarding. In addition to my studies, I am gaining practical experience as a Strength & Conditioning Intern with SDSU Athletics. This role has provided me with a unique perspective on the interplay between sports, business, and community engagement. My involvement with SHRM has been a pivotal part of my professional development, offering me valuable insights into the diverse opportunities within my field. I'm Travis and I'm excited to have the privilege to document all of our meetings and speaker events in photos for the Spring 2024 semester. I joined SHRM just last fall as a recent transfer from the University of San Diego in hopes of getting my grounding into a student organization, however the connections and bonds I've built with fellow members and officers is inevitably what has kept me around. I'm one of the only members who isn't majoring in some type of management, but still love the networking and opportunities this club provides as someone in the accounting pathway. I happy to be of help in any facet. Some of my interests outside of SHRM include playing on the Men's Lacrosse team here at SDSU, shooting film photography, making flash-tattoo art, and collecting vinyl/going to concerts. Hey guys!
